Game Design

Robobattle is classified as a game of real-time tactics (RTT) (see wikipedia). This is a sub-genre of real-time strategy (RTS) games. Essentially, an RTT is an RTS where the need to micro-manage resources is elimiated.

The design of Robobattle need to address these questions:
  • What are the combat forces?
  • What tactics an operations can be applied?
  • What the objects in the environment?
  • What is the implication of line-of-sight?
  • What autonomy does a robot have - even after is has been given a command?
